Already out and roll in Indonesia, the Samsung B3310 is eyeing the young trendy crowd that wants a serious feature-rich mobile phone but without the hefty price tag associated with phones sporting a QWERTY slider.  As an entry level mobile phone with some pretensions as a business messaging and social networking phone, the B3310 does have the looks and the decent specs to give it promise as a good value QWERTY mobile phone.

The handset is a quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE that comes in a slim and petite 91 x 54 x 17mm size weighing just slightly over 100 grams to make it fashionably sleek enough to be pocket friendly.  As a QWERTY slider phone, the B3310 sports a striking pastel pink and black or blue and black color scheme that makes it as playful as it is serious.

It sports a so-so 2 inch TFT display with a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels that supports 256k color depth. This feature alone betrays its entry-level worth but with a QWERTY slide-out keyboard on its left side, the Samsung B3310 could easily be mistaken as a serious business phone. Then again, something in pink or pastel colors will betray its price point and the market it was intended for. But no matter, it does the job with decent display of images and video that makes it competitive with any in its price range.

The phone features quick one-click access to your favourite social networking sites like MySpace, Flickr and Facebook.  No word yet if it supports Twitter but that can be an add-on later.  It’s got the usual nod for a multimedia mobile phone with a capable media player that supports the popular audio and video codecs and an FM radio thrown in.  As a decent camera phone, it sports a typical 2.0 megapixel snapper that can take in QVGA video recording.  You get a 43 MB internal memory that can expand to 16 GB using its microSD expansion card slot.  Bluetooth 2.1 comes standard for wireless data connectivity and A2DP support for wireless stereo headsets.  Talk time is up to 5 hours on GSM with a respectable 15 days of standby time.

Positioned as an entry level mobile phone, the B3310 won’t disappoint among the budget conscious young crowd.  The Samsung B3310 assumes many things in one package.  It’s a social networking phone, a camera and multimedia phone, a QWERTY slider phone, and all these in a budget entry level phone.  Its pink-black color scheme and slider form gives it a unique trendy appeal that makes it an excellent phone accessory for the young ladies starting with their first mobile phone.

The same goes with the pastel blue-back color scheme for the boys.  It’s coming soon to the UK markets with word that September is its launch month.  No word yet on its sticker price, but it sure can’t be an expensive one.
